Calistoga on Rose St Lane North is unashamably Californian; the food, the decor, the extensive wine list—around 100 at the last count—and a Californian radio station providing the background tunes all add to the atmosphere.

The moreish menu changes week to week, with many dishes infused with Asian styles of cooking – steak with sushi rice and BBQ sauce anyone for one. There is also the oft-neglected bar area where you can sample some of California’s finest plonk.

The restaurant's location is a bit on the dark and dingy side but the tasty food should more than make up for this, especially if you take part in one of their wine tasting events first.
