Preview: Orkestra del Sol

During the festival, it can be easy to lose sight of the raucous energy that gave birth to street theatre amongst all the commercialisation and frantic flyering, which is why it is so good to have maverick bands like Orkestra del Sol stomping up a horn-led frenzy and slapstick shtick on the streets and in various venues around town.

Fresh from an international tour, OdS will debut their Fanfareâ show which promises plenty of laughs and irresistible dances. Combining the chaotic horn romps of Balkan collectives such as Taraf de Haidouks with the sweeping sultry footwork of Latin carnival euphoria, OdS are a joy to behold, whether in one of the three Fringe venues they are playing, or the impromptu wandering street gigs they are prone to. Regardless of our unpredictable Scottish sky, the Orkestra can always guarantee a little bit of sun, soaked up from every hot musical climate across the globe.
