Boasting over 200 whiskies, The Albanach—its name translating as "Scotsman" in Gaelic—is a tourist’s wet dream.

Standing out from its competition on the Royal Mile, The Albanach has a pleasant, stylish interior, with flat screens adorning the ancient stone walls. A pint will set you back £3.26 whilst wine by the glass starts at £3.19 – but if you are in Edinburgh for the weekend you should sample one of the many whiskies, ranging from around £3-£28 a nip. There's a reasonable food menu with light bites and mains, and the staff are friendly and obliging. If you need somewhere to rest your weary feet after a trek up the Royal Mile then pop in.
