He has realised over time that there is more to being tough than filling certain stereotypes. Except the beard of course, the beard is badass.

Nick Cody’s beard game isn’t the only thing that’s strong. This Australian knows how to keep a room laughing continuously with seemingly endless ‘A’ material. The man splurges comedy indiscriminately. He has way more than one punch line per joke. Just as one settles in he lashes out another, then another. The onslaught is spectacular.

There's an interesting take on masculinity in all of this. Although Cody is not a tough guy, he used to think he was a bit gangsta but now he knows he wasn’t. He loves watching UFC and once hung around with the SAS for a while. He has realised over time that there is more to being tough than filling certain stereotypes. Except the beard of course, the beard is badass.

But, really, the subject matter isn’t that important. He manages to be funny with such an ease that it’s hard to imagine him being anything else. Cody’s blokey style and persuasive smile is well supported by his on-the-nose observations. He sets up brilliant gags that give such mileage that the laughter from each line barely has time to diminish before the next line arrives. This is masterful stuff performed with relaxed confidence. Every joke is delivered with mettle and that sagacious smile that just knows it’s going to land and everyone is going to laugh.
