Phil Green’s been to quite a few marriage ceremonies over the past year or so. Each has involved people from different age groups, which has given him an opportunity to reflect upon the generations’ varying approaches to, and outlooks on, important matters such as relationships, communication and mental health.

In addition to witnessing loved ones tying the knot, Green experienced a breakdown. This might have been triggered by his own relationship ending, though several other things have happened (he gives us the headlines, rather than delivering any lengthy narrative about the sad events) that certainly won’t have helped.

He works hard at keeping the tone upbeat throughout, with stories and gags about relatable topics such as stag parties, how we all talk (or don’t – hello, Green’s dad) about our feelings and how to respond entertainingly to boastful round robin letters.

There’s nothing outrageous or challenging in this show, which has a not entirely warranted Sugababes thread running through it. And the conclusion, an optimistic summary about how all generations can learn from each other, isn’t exactly radical, but this is an hour that offers hope to those who might need it, and plenty of easy laughs for those who appreciate them.
