What happens in the show?
There was an Irish monk called Brehon who fell asleep for 400 years. When he recently woke up he found the world to be in such a state that he got himself an island and decided that it might work out better if he let kids run it, as grown-ups had made such a mess of the world, that surely they’d do a much better job. In the show the kids choose leaders, and take votes on various things we should have and do in our country.
Describe the show in five words
Funny, interactive, lively, intriguing, democratic.
Who was your favourite character and why?
The main character Brehon was really funny and had some good jokes. Of course, part of me wants to say ‘myself’ as I was voted President of Kidocracy, but that would be big headed!
Were there any characters you didn’t like?
There were only two characters in the show and both were funny. I can’t even say that I didn’t like the boys in the audience that joined in as they were funny too.
What did you like most about the show?
I liked that everyone in the audience was able to have a say, that we all got to contribute rules, and we chose who the leaders of Kidocracy were. It was good that all the adults got involved, although the kids were much funnier.
What didn’t you like about the show?
Nothing really, even the parents throwing ping pong balls at the kids was really funny.
What did you think of the music?
The Kidocracy anthem at the end got everyone clapping along and the silly lyrics rounded off an excellent show.
What did your grown-up think of the show?
My dad said, "These shows depend so much on the children present and whether or not they get involved. This audience were really good, and you can imagine with an even bigger audience that the show would be even better. Brehon had a really good rapport with the audience and was very quick-witted, keeping the adults as amused as the children."
Would you tell your friends to come and see the show?
Yes I would because they enjoy things that are silly and would like the idea of a show where they can join in, show off and be the boss!
