The Legacy of William Ireland

Following the success at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe with the five-star show After Today, Stage D’Or returns with their latest work from acclaimed playwright Tim Connery. London, 1796. Meet young William Henry Ireland, self-proclaimed poetic genius (or idiot according to others). William relates the improbable but true story about how he managed to not only improve on some of Shakespeare’s works (giving them a happy ending) but also forge a brand new Shakespeare play, causing riots and the near-destruction of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane – which of course was not his fault.
